What kind of information does Travel Clinic record and why?
Travel Clinic maintains a register so that we can offer our clients the opportunity to subscribe to newsletters or be allowed selective access to certain features or functions of the Travel Clinic website. Registration can provide us with useful background information so that we can tailor the information we provide on the website and in newsletters to make it as interesting and relevant as possible. The following data on registered users may be recorded:
We may ask users for certain personal information such as name, address and contact details. This data is recorded in order to enable us to deliver our service.
A username and password are created automatically and sent by email to new clients. Clients can later change these themselves. This login data allows access to private areas of the website and facilitates the management of personal records. Each (registered) user is responsible for keeping private and remembering his or her own username and password. We recommend choosing a password which is not easily guessed. Passwords should have at least 8 characters, preferably including some special characters (not letters or numbers) such as $ & ^ or #. We also recommend changing your password regularly.
Anyone who has been told the combination of your username and password will automatically - without human intervention - have access to the Travel Clinic website and the personal information which is recorded there. You can access this information by logging in and clicking on “My Account”.
You can delete your information free of charge at any time. Deletion is final and irreversible. To do this, please send us an email via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other information we receive about you: Visits to the Website
Travel Clinic receives information about each visit made to our website.
More information can be collected about users who are registered with us or logged-in than about anonymous visitors to the website. We restrict the information we collect to data about which pages are visited and how often and, if known, by which registered users. This information is automatically (without human intervention) accessible to authorised staff in the form of statistical summaries which allow us to monitor which information is of particular interest to our visitors and which less so. Information cannot be accessed by anyone other than certain authorised employees and under no circumstances is it sold or transferred to third parties.
Information about all visitors to the website is collected by Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies” (small text files which are stored on your computer) in order to analyse how visitors are using the website. The information about the use of the site (including the IP-address) is transferred to and stored by Google. Google does not give any guarantee that this information will be stored in the Netherlands or on servers within the European Union. The data may therefore be held in data centres in the United States.
Google is, however, included in the so-called “Safe Harbour List” of companies which have declared that they will comply with EU standards on the protection of personal data and therefore this possible transfer of data outside the EU is not in breach of the relevant EU privacy laws.
If you so wish, you can install the browser add-on offered by Google. This prevents any information being collected by Google Analytics.
Travel Clinic also uses YouTube which is a subsidiary of Google. Click here.
By using the Travel Clinic website you are giving your consent to the collection and storage of information by Travel Clinic and Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.
